The history of CEFARM S.A. Pharmaceutical Centre dates back to 1945, the year when "Centrala Handlowa i Farmaceutyczno-Sanitarna" (The Sales and Pharmaceutics-Sanitary Centre) was created to the provide foundations for distribution of domestic and foreign medicines in post-war Poland. From then onwards this company operated for many years, known as "CEFARM" Pharmaceutical Centre State-owned Company.
Since Apr. 1, 2003 CEFARM S.A. Pharmaceutical Centre has been present as a one-man State Treasury company with initial capital of PLN 55,400,000.
 CF CEFARM S.A. belongs to the 10 largest distributors of medicines on the Polish market. In 2004 the share of the market held by CF CEFARM S.A. fluctuated around 5%. The company supplies practically all subjects operating in the sector of pharmaceuticals and medicine, including: wholesale outlets, pharmacists, ZOZ (Health Care Units), consultation rooms, retail outlets of herbal and medical products, etc.. The services of CF CEFARM S.A. are addressed to the pre-wholesale market, however the importance of individual pharmacists among its customers keeps growing. Today's sales to pharmacists constitute ca 16% of total company's sales. One of important assets of CEFARM S.A. Pharmaceutical Centre is very wide scope of products. We offer almost 12,000 products in all therapy groups, i.e. medicines, para-pharmaceuticals, vaccines, prescribed substances, hygienic products, cosmetics and wound dressing products. The company co-operates with more than 600 Polish and foreign manufacturers and suppliers of medicines.
 CF CEFARM S.A. specialises in import of both registered medicines as well as medical products, which are not registered in Poland, but are irreplaceable to save the lives and health of patients. Management of orders marked "SAVE LIFE" forms an important asset of the Company. We also provide services consisting in import of products from countries beyond the European Union. CF CEFARM S.A. is an all-country distributor, capable of reaching any location within Poland. The company enforced the procedures and rules of Good Distribution Practice (GDP) in accordance with the EU requirements. The commercial contacts with clients are managed by our Sales Department in Warsaw, as well as our sales representatives. CF CEFARM S.A. fulfils orders received by phone:, by fax, e-mail and via modem. Our database of medicines, which is updated on a run-time basis, KS-Bloz, Bazyl, register EAN13, ensures significant automation of supplies to pharmacists and wholesale outlets.
 A part of our business, which expands very rapidly, is formed by distribution of drugs directly to retail outlets. The number of pharmacist stores co-operating with CF CEFARM S.A. on the basis of a the rules of a patronage store today reaches 50 and keeps growing. The pharmacist stores covered by the patronage scheme use a CF CEFARM S.A. logo very well recognised by patients and associated not only with tradition, confidence and reliability, but also good prices. The special facilities provided for the patronage pharmacist stores include a special sales offer and marketing scheme titled "APTEKA DLA KAZDEGO" (A PHARMACIST STORE FOR EVERYONE), which supports promotion of them among patients.
 The aim of CF CEFARM S.A. is to integrate the patronage pharmacist stores in joint efforts to acquire new clients using methods compatible with the ethical rules of pharmaceutical marketing, i.e. oriented towards the good of the patients, not just increase of profits. This is done using i.a. integration meetings, held to exchange experience and ideas and to provide regular training in subjects related with pharmaceuticals. Patients of patronage pharmacist stores, in turn, receive a newsletter titled "Apteka dla Kazdego" (A Pharmacist Store for Everyone) and free of charge consultations with specialists from various medical fields. The above example activities are undertaken by CF CEFARM S.A. to provide the widely conceived pharmaceutical care, which in Poland, as well as in other EU countries, is to be provided by pharmacists.
